Science City Kolkata Review

 Have fun with Science

My Ratings: 5/5

I am residing in West Bengal for almost five years and been to Kolkata many times. But recently when I visited Kolkata with my mother, wife and brother; I decided to visit Science City just to pass few hours but was amazed to see the place and spent almost 5 hours without a single boring moment. So, I thought of discussing this amazing place with you all.

Location and Reachability

The science city is located at JBS Haldane Avenue at the crossing of EM Bypass and Park Circus Road (nearby landmark is Ruby Hospital). There are easily available public transport- taxis as well as buses- to this location.

The centre is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., every day of the year except Holi. You can get further information on its website www.sciencecitykolkata.org.in.

Nokia X7 Review

 Half-hearted attempt of Nokia

My ratings: 2/5

I am back with another mobile review, or I should say another Nokia mobile review. Just for record, this is my seventh mobile review, and fourth Nokia mobile review. I am using this mobile for last few
days, so thought of sharing my views on it.

Talking about basic features, it is having 8MP camera with dual LED flash , 8GB storage capacity using microSD card (expandable up to 32GB), GPS, Wi-Fi & 680MHz ARM 11 processor.

Design

At first sight, it looks attractive with large 4in screen and somewhat unique angular looks with four grills on ea ch corner . It seems as these grills house speakers in it but actually only bottom two have speakers; other two are just for symmetry purpose. Handset feels solid with 146gms weight and 11.9mm maximum thickness.

Apple iPod 2GB

The Most Affordable Apple

My ratings: 4/5

Apple- the fruit always fascinated me since my childhood. My early summers were spent in mango orchids and winters in guava orchids. Apple was a fruit that was always costlier than other fruits (in northern area). I have grown up but the fascination still remains- not to the fruit but to the gadget.

I was planning to have an Apple product since long time but the exorbitant pricing stopped me. I needed something portable for listening music while I am walking or am in gym. The need was to purchase a portable MP3 player and what is better than Apple iPod Shuffle 2GB - with its cute little size and Apple branding.

Looks & Design - It is a square aluminum case that comes in array of bright colors (silver, orange, blue, pink, and green). I choose blue color to match the color of my N8.

Nokia E5 Review

Cheapest Business Phone in India

My Rating- 3/5
The QWERTY keypads always fascinate me. I am using Motorola EX115 for almost a year and wanted to replace it so am in search of another mobile that can satisfy my needs. Last week I got first hand experience of Nokia E5. Actually my cousin is using it so I went deep in details about its performance. So I am sharing my views on it.

Design

It is a QWERTY phone without touchscreen, having dimensions of 115 x 58.9 x 12.8 mm and weighs 126 g. The body is mix of plastic and metal. The metallic battery cover looks cool and gives it a feel of expensive phones. It is having 2.36-inch display with resolution of 320 x 240 pixels and 256K colors.

The phone is having dedicated keys for home, mailing and flashlight. The ‘*’ and ‘#’ keys are oddly placed adjacent to ‘3’ & ‘6’.

Hardware/ Software

It is backed with 600MHz processor, 256MB of RAM and 250MB of internal storage that can be expanded to 32GB. It uses Symbian v9.3 operating system (OS) and the S60 v3.2 user interface (UI).

The Dirty Picture Music Review

Ishq Sufiyana... Ooh La La.....

 My ratings- 4/5

The Dirty Picture is a biopic movie based on southern actress ‘Silk Smitha’, directed by Milan Luthria and produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor. As Silk Smitha was a top actress in 1980s so the theme of the movie and music is around that period. I was waiting for the release of music of this movie since the time of first ‘Ooh La La’ teaser.

The movie has total six songs, all composed by the great Vishal-Shekar duo. The music will remind you of old times, though not a exact replica. All the songs are written by Rajat Aroraa. There are four original songs, one remix, and one female version.

Ooh La La
- The album opens with this oomph and energetic song. It is sung by the great disco musician Bappi Lahiri and the sweet singer Shreya Ghoshal. It is pictured on Vidya Balan and Naseeruddin Shah in a very bold and sexy way. The singer duo justified the video of the song. I have noticed that it is the first time that Shreya has sung this type of song but it’s just awesome. There is not much in the lyrics (except that Ooh La La), just repetitive phrases but anyhow it is the heart of this movie.

There is one dhol remix version of this song also, remixed by DJ A-Myth. The original song is much better than the remix.

Bajaj Pulsar 150 DTSi Review

10 yrs on road and successfully running

My Ratings- 4/5

This is my first attempt for writing review of a vehicle. I am not a moto-expert so may not be able to satisfy your requirements from a review. As always, feedbacks and scope for improvements are always welcome.

I purchased Bajaj Pulsar 150 DTSi in July 2010 and there was no dilemma while making decisions. There were very few bikes in the market in 150cc category. Few available were CBZ Extreme (I didn’t like the looks at all), Hunk (there were all the wrong reviews and it is termed as a failure) and Unicorn (I don’t want to take risk as it was newly launched)

For information, DTSi is Digital Twin Spark Ignition, and is patented Bajaj Auto technology. Simply said, it uses two spark plugs (in place of one) per engine cylinder. Two spark plugs at either end of combustion chamber help in faster and better combustion.

Sony VAIO VPCYB15AG

DEADLY looks with OK performance

My Ratings- 3/5
This is my first review of a computer. I am having laptop computer for my personal use but netbook fascinated me since the time of its release. There was not much use of it but my gadget freaky behavior was continuously forcing me to own a netbook. After much R&D, online market research and much more, I decided to purchase one.

Initial Dilemma

Before purchasing, I shortlisted few brands as per the price and specifications. I had to choose between Dell, HP and Acer with in the price tag of around Rs.17000. I left the choice of exact model on my impulse. When I went to a multibrand store, there was much more in display.

When I think of netbook, it was always a 10.1in screen without an optical drive. But while experiencing it for the first time in that store, I felt that 10.1in is very small for me (I am using 15in screen laptop). I used to wear spectacles with high power so it was bit difficult for me to concentrate on that tiny screen. So I rejected that screen size, the next available was 11.6in screen. There

I too had a Love Story- Ravinder Singh

READ IT TO FEEL IT !!!

My ratings- 4/5

Days pass by somehow
But nights now are a wagon of pain
Injuries may heal
  with time

But marks will always remain

I too had a habit….

Yes I too had a habit of reading novels. But I am busy in lot many other useless things that I don’t get time to read. Still this useless habit made me landed on MS on one fine day. Luckily I started reading again. I started reading reviews. And due to one of the review on MS I got to know about a novel. About a writer, whom I wasn’t aware, exists. That review inspired me to give a take on it. While reading that review, I was traveling in train. And at the next stop I searched for it and thus I became a proud owner of ‘I Too Had A Love Story by Ravinder Singh’ by investing meager amount of Rs.100.

Freemake Video Converter

MUST HAVE ALL-IN-ONE CONVERTER

My Ratings- 5/5

The life was going easy without any need of converters until the multimedia phones appeared in market. Once I started purchasing multimedia mobiles, the need for converter arises so as to convert audio, video and photos as per the phone’s compatibility. The most important thing to discuss is that I don’t want to spend a penny on this software. I searched for free software on internet to get my work done.

I was able to find few such as Super converter but they were so complicated that it made my work tougher. Either they were able to convert video only or sometime only audio. Finally I got this software on 4th 5th page of goggle when I was searching for “Video Converter”.

Freemake Video Converter is the best ever converter software I have ever found and the most amazing thing is that it is totally free and that too without any limitations. Don’t go by its name as it contains “Video”. It can do so many things that you can’t even imagine. I will discuss its features that it can perform.

Star Ratings: 4/5

I am writing review on a mobile after a long time. I came across this mobile during my last visit to my hometown. My younger brother was using this mobile (Nokia X1-01) and I got interested in it mainly because of two features- dual-SIM and loudspeaker. So am just trying to share my views on it.

Specifications

Dual-SIM connectivity (dual-standby)
1.8" 65K-color 128x160 TFT display
Symbian S30 UI

GOA

SUN, SAND, SEA & DELICIOUS FOOD

My Rating- 5/5

Read this review if you are interested in Goa because of the above title. These were the four things that attracted me to Goa and my 3 days stay were totally focused on these four basic attractions.

When to visit?

The tariffs of hotels in Goa are divided into three seasons- Off season (June 16 to September 30), Peak season (December 24 to January 1) and Season (for the remaining dates). The off-season is considered off mainly because of the heavy rains. So the best time to visit Goa is in last week of September as you will get the benefits of off-season and less rains or very light drizzling. But remember that it will slightly hot in Septe

mber. If you want to enjoy to the peak, then visit in November or February.

Reliance Digital

Congrats!!! You succeed in fooling me.

My ratings: -5/5 (It is not 5/5, it is MINUS 5/5)

I normally write reviews of services and products mentioning the positives and negatives but this time I am going to share a horrible experience I recently had with Reliance Digital store. So don’t expect any positive point this time and I also don’t find any, worth mentioning.

I was planning to purchase a netbook long time back and finally I thought of purchasing it. I was not sure about the model to be purchased so I decided to purchase by on the spot decision. Since I wanted to go to a place where I am able to see maximum number of products so I decided to go to Reliance Digital, Satyam Tower (Opposite Haldirams), VIP Road, Kolkata.

Before discussing further I would like to tell you the story in gist. I purchased Sony VAIO- Model VPCYB15AG/S for Rs.23384. The MRP of this model on Sony website is Rs.22990 (inclusive of all the taxes) and the market price is in the range of Rs.22000

The Zahir by Paulo Coelho

  REDISCOVER LOVE !!!

My rating- 3.5/5

1. Why the width between railway tracks is similar all over the world and what is the relationship of this width with a successful marriage?
2. What is Favor Bank?
3. Why sex is forbidden in all religion & culture? (Amazingly it has just one-word answer)
4. Have you ever thought about your funeral?

There are many more questions that you have never thought of in your life and I promise you an answer in the reviewed novel- The Zahir. I rarely get time to read these days but since am a fan of Paulo Coelho since I read The Alchemist, I gave a try to this novel.

The Paulo Coelho

IFB 25SC2 Microwave Oven Review

THINK BEFORE YOU DECIDE

My Rating- 3/5

I am proud owner of IFB microwave oven for last 8 months without ANY problem. So it’s right time to share my views on it.

Why to buy?

This
is the major question one should ask to him/herself that why you need to buy a microwave oven. Most of the people (including me) made mistakes while deciding about purchasing it. There are things that appease me before I own a MW oven that I would be able to roast, grill, brown, crisp, toast, cook food, and the list goes on. I did all these things for one or two months but ultimately I am using it for reheating purpose only. It may not be the same for all, and will surely be of major help to familie

s with demanding children.

What to buy?

Once the purpose is decided, the question arises what needs to be purchased so as to solve our purpose. For those who do not have much idea regarding microwave oven, I would like to share some basics of it.

There are three things to be decided before making decision-

1. Type of microwave oven- There are three types of microwave oven:
a) Basic/ simple microwave oven- It can be used only for simple cooking, heating and defrosting.
b) Microwave with grill- It is used for simple cooking, heating, defrosting and baking.
c) Microwave with grill and convection- It is used for simple cooking, heating, defrosting, baking and crisping.

2. Capacity- The capacity of a microwave oven defines the size of the oven and the amount of food that you can cook in it at one time. To decide the capacity you should consider following two factors:
a) Family size- Larger the family, more the capacity required.
b) Usage- If you want to use oven to supplement your cooking (reheat and defrosting), even small quantity will suffice.

3. Brand- There is many brands available in market. The choice depends on your brand loyalty and reliability. I choose IFB as it is considered among the best in Indian market.

Why you should buy 25SC2?

Specifications-
1. Power consumption- 1250W to 2000W, depending on usage
2. Oven capacity- 25 Liters
3. Net weight- 16.3 kgs
4. Cooking by Turntable system

Features-
1. 10 power levels
2. Convection with temperature setting
3. Preheat facility
4. Multi stage cooking
5. Express cooking
6. Child safety lock
7. LED display
8. 3 years warranty on Magnetron and Cavity.
9. 26 Auto cook menus
10. Cook recipe book from Nita Mehta is given free

Was that called Demo?

I would like to describe the Demo I got from IFB person. Since I have never used MW oven before I was expecting a person who could explain me all the basic things related to operation. No one came for demo for few days after my purchase. Then I called IFB customer care and they finally send a person. He was totally unprofessional with least knowledge of the operation.

He showed me only two basic thing- roasting papad and heating water. I asked him few questions and he was unable to respond to any of those.

Is it worth?

There are several advantages of using a MW oven. I observed that reheating done by MW oven is far better than done by normal oven and it also regains the freshness in the cooked food. Previously rice never tasted so fresh after reheating. You can boil potatoes in a MW oven in just 2-3 min, by putting them in a thin polythene bag. There are lot many features like these.

If you want to use the MW oven for basic purpose then there is no need of purchasing convection MW oven. The basic purpose can be solved by simple MW oven. And there is almost 100% increase in prices of convection MW oven than ordinary one.

So it’s better to think judiciously before deciding the model.

I am using IFB for last eight months and I haven’t faced any problems till date. I think all the MW ovens have the same working principle so the choice is bit easy. There are some latest ovens that promise some or other things like making curd etc. I preferred IFB just because of brand loyalty, and I have to pay extra for it (around 1-2k). The similarly featured MW oven can be purchased at lesser prices, likes of Samsung, Whirlpool, LG etc.

Considering my personal experience I would recommend it, but only if you really need a Convection MW oven. There are ordinary MW ovens and even Microwave Oven with Grill available in the market in the range of 5k. I can’t comment on after sales service, as I never needed to use it.

NB: This model is discontinued from the market. In place of this, 25SC3 is available in the market with all the same features and specification as 25SC2.

Opera Mini 6 Browser

I am in my hometown for last two weeks. Since it is a small town so there is neither broadband nor 3G services. So I have to totally depend on my mobile for internet. I am using Opera Mini 6 browser in my Nokia N8. It has got many advantages as compared to default browser of Nokia or other browsers. So here I am with my latest review on Opera Mini 6.
Opera Mini is a web browser designed primarily for mobile phones, smartphones and PDAs. As per the record, Opera Mini is the world’s most used mobile browser with more than 113.5 million users (in May 2011).

Functionality

Firstly I want to discuss the technical part of this browser. Though it is not necessary in this review but it will give a clear insight about the differences between other browsers and Opera Mini.

Samsung Corby TXT B3210

AM LOVING IT

My ratings- 3/5

This is my fourth review on a mobile phone after Nokia N8, Motorola EX115 & Samsung E2370. I purchased this mobile phone in August’2010 at Rs 5100. It is almost 9 months since then and I am fully satisfied by its performance. So it’s right time to share my experience with you all.

Unboxing

It has never been my category while writing review for mobile phone. But I have felt a different experience while unboxing Samsung Corby TXT, so it is worth mentioning. The phone comes in a white colored box and unlike all other phone’s boxes; its height is more then length and breadth (horizontal looking). The box is full of youthness in it with lots of flashy pictures and texts. When you open it you will get a normal box like other mobile phones’ but with totally different color- ORANGE and it is plain with nothing written on it. Rest of the things is same as others.
Inside the box:

Mobile phone with battery An extra back cover Mini USB cable Battery charger White colored headphone 1GB memory card

Exterior

The phone is wide looking due to its full QWERTY keyboard & its overall casing size measures 11.2cm tall by 5.96cm wide by 1.29cm thick & weighs 94 grams. This phone has got unique form factor and has attractive and distinctive looks.

The phone is available in Black skin color but you can change its battery cover with different colors of fashion jackets. Two jackets are provided with the phone- yellow and black.

On the face of the handset there is a 2.2 inches TFT, 256K colors screen. On the top, there is a 3.5 mm audio jack and micro USB port. On the left, there is volume control key and on the right side there is a dedicated camera key. On the back Samsung B3210 Corby TXT sports a 2-mega-pixel camera with video recording capabilities and a loudspeaker.

The volume control key and camera key is yellow in color and perfectly matches with the yellow jacket. I personally like the central (select) key on the keyboard. It is three colored: black inside, and then yellow ring and finally a metallic ring. There are dedicated keys on keyboard for writing messages and music player.

Keypad

The keypad of Samsung Corby TXT is the USP. Compared to other phones’, the keypad of this phone is small and cramped, but you can easily be accustomed to it and then you will not notice any difference or problems in typing. The space bar is comparatively smaller in size.

If you are genuinely big-fingered, you think before choosing the Corby TXT, but for the younger generation, the keyboard is certainly sufficient.

Music

The Samsung B3210 Corby TXT supports an integrated music player, which supports popular music formats including MP3 & WMA formats. You can transfer new music to the mobile phone via the connectivity options available or download new music from the Web.

There are few good and unique things I noticed in this phone, like auto off of music. You can automatically off the music after 30 mins, 1hour or 2 hour. There are eight sound effects you can chose while listening music.

The major flaw that I noticed is that there is no search option provided in the ‘All Tracks’ list. Means, if you want to listen a song that starts with ‘P’, you have to scroll down to P to reach there. That is very cumbersome if you have large collection of music like mine (I have more then 2000 songs!!!). Though you can search music by artist, album or genres.

The headphone supplied with the phone is very attractive and is white in color. I don’t understand why other manufacturers are not in favor of white headphones. It looks really attractive and distinctive and will surely give a different experience to the user. From a distance the headphone of Corby TXT looks like the headphones provided with Apple products. The sound quality over headphone is very loud and clear. Also, the sound quality is awesome from the loudspeaker.

The FM radio provided is a simple affair and works fine and even lets you record directly off the radio – although the resulting .m4a files don’t show up in the media player.

Camera

There is a two mega pixel camera which comes with a variety of photo & video setting to enhance any photos captured or video clips recording. The phone comes with an easy to use dedicated camera-capturing key.

There is option of changing image resolution like all other phones. You can chose any of the five photo effects such as black & white, sepia, green etc. There are few other features- timer, night mode & frames.

There is no auto focus or flash, but you can’t expect that in the price range of 5k.

Features & Applications

The phone comes with 37MB of internal memory expandable to 8GB with a microSD card.

There are seven pre-installed communities in applications- Orkut, Facebook, MySpace, flickr, Photobucket, Picassa, and Friendster. You also have an option of choosing any of the three themes.

This mobile phone supports Bluetooth & USB connectivity. It also supports Edge & GPRS technologies that provide high-speed data transfer rates. The phone is not 3G compatible.

Call quality is awesome. Whenever I talk of call quality, I have in my mind the quality provided by Nokia phones.

The most appealing feature of this phone is that you can change it’s font. You can change font size and even it’s type. There are three (large, medium, small) options for font size and four options for font type. I have not seen this feature even in my highly price N8. I am bored of the old mobile font that is in existence since the time of mobile invention. Corby TXT gave me a feeling of freshness.

The phone has got all the applications as found in other Samsung phones. There is option of downloading java-enabled games from the web.

There is unique bluetooth messenger in this phone. Unique in the sense that I have not seen this feature in other mobiles I am using. But still I don’t think that it is of any use. Who wants a message a person in bluetooth range (within 10 meters)? There is IM like other phones. It shows messages in conversation mode also that makes chatting very comfortable.

The internet connectivity is ok. You can use Samsung default browser or any other browser. It is better to use recently released Opera 6.0 that works fine.

The phone has got 800mAh battery and has life of 390hrs and 7.5hrs for standby and talktime respectively. I am satisfied with the battery life of this phone. You can easily go up to three days with normal usage.

Final Words

There are pros and cons of this mobile like all the mobiles in any range. I have seen many QWERTY phones and I am even using Motorola EX115, but I haven’t seen any phone like Corby TXT in this price range.

It feels rock solid and look like that it is going to last forever. When it is in my hand, it feels that I am holding something worthwhile. In one word, it is hatke mobile with the unique color combination of yellow and black. Even though I have black back cover, but I have never even tried it as I feel that this Y&B combo is best suited with its looks.

Go for it, if you are bored of usual mobile phones. It will surely give you a feeling of freshness. It is highly recommended for youths and persons whose needs from the phones are- calling, messaging and music.

N.B.: My phone got crashed once (just two months after purchasing) and it took around 20 days to get the fault rectified (of course, free of cost) by Samsung service center, as they were not having that particular chip. The problem may have arisen in my phone only, so I didn’t mention it in my review. Discussing it at the end because I want reader of this review to get a clear picture.

Samsung E2370 Review

MOBILE WITH LONGEST BATTERY LIFE

My Rating- 2.5/5

This is my third review on a mobile. I have still 3 more that are left unreviewed :). And here I go with my latest review:

Due to my official assignments I used to
travel a lot. And many times I don’t have options of charging my mobile so I start a quest for a mobile with long battery backup. There were many from China based companies but as I wanted to go with a reputed brand. My search ended with Samsung Guru E2370 Power. It boasts of its excellent battery backup, capable of providing a talk time of 22 hours and standby time of around 2 months.

Features Overview
Samsung Guru Power E2370 is a slim and stylish mobile powered by everlasting battery. It features VGA camera, MP3 Player, FM Radio, Video player, Mobile Prayer, Calendar, World Clock and Converter.

HardwareIt is having a 1.8 inch TFT screen with resolution of 128 x 160 pixels. The handset has got IP54 certification that means it possesses resistivity to water, dust and shocks, but it doesn’t mean that it will work under water. It is not water-proof mobile.
The handset has large convex keys made out of rubber which helps in typing easily and smoothly. It is having dimension of 112 x 49 x 19 mm and weighs 115 grams.
The handset has impressive music quality with dual Speakers present which are capable of handling noisy environment.
The phone’s VGA camera is just for namesake. You cannot expect it to give quality photographs. The camera has photo effects-Blue, Gray, Green, and Negative. It is also having video recording feature.
Although the phone supports GPRS, USB, Bluetooth and WAP connectivity but the connection speed is quite dissatisfying.

Software
The phone is Java enabled and thus has a capability of thrilling you with Java apps and games. The phone also has a Fake call utility which can be useful while coming out of a meeting or unwanted situations. Some other attractive features of the phone include a mobile tracker; torch light, convertor, calculator, stop watch etc.

Audio, Video and Music The phone supports audio & video playback. The sound quality is very clear and loud. Background music playback is not supported.
The incoming and out-going call quality is pretty sharp. The accessorial support of vibration alert and MP3 ringtones are also available.

Memory The phone has internal 40MB storage memory that is spacious enough to load good sum of data and other useful stuff. It also supports external 2GB micro SD memory card support allowing you to store lots of videos, contacts, messages, songs, images and lots more.
The phone supports 1000 phonebook entries & 1000 SMS.

Battery LifeIt is the USP of this mobile. The mobile is equipped with a powerful and long-lasting Standard Li-ion 2000mAh battery that ensures you the delivery of maximum stand by time upto 1600hrs and talk time upto 22hrs.
But I have checked the battery life and I found that the standby time is around 800hrs which is much less then claimed by Samsung. Still it is a good figure and suffices my requirements.

Games
It has got the exciting collection of pre-loaded games -Sudoku, Jumpboy, Cricket and Carrom. One will never feel bore with this compact box of entertainment plus communicating device. You can also download more interesting java-enabled games over internet.

Pros
1. 22hrs battery talk time
2. Micro SD memory card support
3. Keyboard which makes typing very easy
4. GPRS & EDGE connectivity features
5. Stereo FM radio with RDS & FM recording
6. MP3 player
7. One-touch button LED Torch
8. Robust body with water, dust and shocks resistivity
9. Low-price.

Cons
1. Poor camera quality
2. No USB cable or software CD with the phone
3. Little overweight and bulky
4. Memory card not hot swappable
5. Internet connectivity very slow

Verdict
It is a powerful handset and worth its price. I bought it online from flipkart.com at price of Rs 2850 in an offer and got an additional battery with it. Just imagine the battery power of this phone with two batteries :).
However, it does not have any fancy looks. It looks like an age-old handset but it is an excellent bargain for people who make long journeys.
As per my knowledge, this is the mobile with longest battery backup from a reputed multinational company

Truly speaking, this is a phone mainly designed for those who treat phone only to be a source which helps you to remain connected always.

Motorola EX115 Review

  NICE DUAL-SIM QWERTY PHONE

My Ratings- 3/5

When I decided to buy a dual SIM mobile, the Indian market was flooded with small manufacturers like Micromax, Spice, Karbon, Lava etc. This particular mobile caught my attention, which is a dual SIM QWERTY mobile phone launched by the Telecommunications giant, and is a step ahead with its competitors.

I purchased this mobile in Dec’10, so I think its time to write a review and let all make aware of its pros & cons.
The Motorola EX-115, code-named Starling, has dimensions of 109 x 61 x 12.4 mm and weighs 102.2 gms. It is a well built mobile having solid looks. The back panel is made of rubberized plastic and offers amazing grip. The phone is very slim and has a sing
le port which is used to connect the charger as well as data cable. On the other side, there are attractive looking metal-made volume control keys. At the top is the 3.5mm jack to connect headphones/ earphones.
The mobile screen is 2.3 inch TFT, capable of displaying 256K colors and has a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. Two SIM card slots are under the battery, whereas micro-SD card slot is hot-swappable. The phone supports memory card capacity of up to 32 Gb.

NOKIA N8 Review

THE BEST CAMERA PHONE

My Rating- 4/5

I have purchased Nokia N8 just after a week of its release (on 24th October). It is five months since I am using this mobile. I just want to share my views on it.

My Views

Hardware: It is no doubt the most ruggedly handsome devices of recent memory. The body is almost Aluminum construction and a typical mixture of curvy sides and sternly straight lines at the top and bottom. The biggest distinguishing feature is it’s protruding camera compartment on the back, which houses the world’s largest image sensor yet seen in a smartphone, a Carl Zeiss lens, a Xenon flash, and a loudspeaker.
The protruding compartment has drawback also. Since the phone spends most of its horizontal time resting on the camera section’s bottom edge, so over the long run that portion of the body will suffer plenty of wear and tear. So I regularly use a cover to protect that portion.
Screen-locking slider is made of plastic. Since it is most used button, it would be better if it was made as rest of the body. The Xenon flash of camera is heavy power drain. The battery is not user replaceable and that can be a cause of concern if we want to have an additional backup battery.
